The daffodils are already here


The first signs of Spring... the daffodils are already coming up at the bottom of our lane, with the snow drops hot on their heals.
Daffodils have been a popular site in Cornwall for many years with some varieties named after Cornish villages. Grown here, with the benefit of our weather, and then sold as cut flowers in the UK and beyond, they were once transported up to Covent Garden using the railway line. They say that the bulbs you see by the side of the road and in our hedgerows, were thrown out by growers during the Second World War when non-food crops could not be cultivated...
